OMG Christmas...

Yo!
So I came home, and did some work for mom. Stefan came home a week later, had a Christmas party... from then on time just disappeared. We picked up Nick on the 20th, and visited with Jane a bit... there was a bunch of shopping that happened at some point in time Christmas day was a lot of fun ( I got a net book which I really wasn't expecting... the only problem is that the screen didn't work and we have yet to find a replacement...)
I got unit 4 of physics sent to the school, as well as an extension so I have a bit more time to send in the last unit. Which is sooo much help! Been working on both Physics and Chem lately depending on if I have a computer around or not.
We took mom to Montreal yesterday, That was a lot of fun. And Stefan took me to see cirque du soleil as my Christmas present. The show was called Quidam... not really sure what it was about... the websight says "A nameless passer-by, alone in a crowd, in a society that has become too impersonal" but I didn't get that at all... I saw a lot of death... Stefan suggested that it was talking about euthanasia... which I agree does kinda fit with the way I understood things... The thing that is ok is that it doesn't really matter what I took from the show... no mater what I took something : ). We had a nice time.
Mom's taking nick to Toronto, his plane leaves early tomorrow so hes staying at Auntie Corinne's. I am old people sitting... there is five days till we go on vacation. Isn't that neat?
I guess I should do some chem now...
So... well... ya...

Ontario... back in good old Ontario.

Nanaimo time Snday dec 12 : 10:29                Speed: 986 km/h                     Altitude: 8686 m
So on the way home from BC. On the airplane again, currently still in BC… sadly there is nothing to see outside… and I have a feeling it’s going to be like that for most of this trip which is a little lame… I was originally given an aisle seat but I was able to get it switched…
Left Nanaimo at 7:50 I had a window seat on that trip too but it was both to dark and too foggy… I want to ask dad how you see threw that kind of situation… all I could see outside then… (and now for that matter) was the wing with the propeller spinning. There’s nothing but white out there and it’s a really bright white at that.
Noel’s not to happy but she’s ok. I don’t think she likes the turbulence that’s happening right this second though… she’s such a wonderful little kitty.

Nanaimo time 12:00 / Ontario time 3:00        Speed: 1053 km/h                   Altitude 10058 m
So there hasn’t been much outside up to now… mostly just cloud but I am now somewhere between Saskatchewan  and Manitoba it might even be Ontario I am not sure… and I see snow… long flat peaces of snow and a lake.. I think it might be devils lake… (it’s labeled on the map on the airplane screen…) I can see a river that’s all snowy… and all sorts of lines that are roads… snow looks much more like a blanket from here… I guess I probably have time traveled again by now… anyways the snowy ground kinda excited me. Its really kinda pretty… it shows all the contours and shapes of the earth so perfectly…. I see the windmills again… it doesn’t look like they are moving though.
The earth feels so flat… but it’s not… threes little bumps and things… its neat to see in such a real way all that there is to it.
I like snow. It’s good to get rid of the rain and exchange it for snow… it hasn’t stopped raining in Nanaimo for like a week…
Hoary for getting a window seat!! :D
Threes a city… might be Thunder Bay…. I started a tv show and I can’t get out  … I like the city’s… they look like a motherboard… the trees look so cool.

Ontario time 4:04                                Speed: 840 km/h                                 Altitude: 10058 m
I am looking at the map now and there’s no way the town I saw was thunder bay… were close to it now but its north of me. The ground is now covered by clouds but I am not in a big one this time. It’s kind of neat because the clouds look like waves… they travel in a pattern of lines the same way that waves do… I guess that sounds lame but that’s ok I am just me.
I am close to Michigan. There’s water under us right now.

Ontario time: 4:06 Monday Dec 13
So back at loyalist. The ride home was better than the radio expected with all there bad weather warnings and worry. I guess they worried everyone else away. I fell asleep fairly early when you account for my time traveling... but I guess thats good (except that I slept in a fare bit today... :P)
Now to finish this annoying physics project if for no other reason than to get it done with... then I can just worry about finding a house and finishing two chem projects and vacation and more moving... :D maybe I just like to be worried... maybe that's it.

so...well...ya...

yo...

So I failed the post a day idea on day two... and I was just thinking about this. I don't axially care to write all the time just for the sake of doing it. I did NaNo and it was awesome but I am less excited about the idea of forcing myself to write here...
On that note... I sold my bike :D horay for Craigslist and the ability to buy a bike for $50 and then sell it for $60 three months later... (i didn't intend to profit I just expected people to offer me less that the asking price...) So I am now bike-less and will have a small problem if I want to go to Yoga next week but I made $10 (plant's vs. Zombies yo!!)
one week an one day left of Nanaimo... glad to have this chance to live here but also glade to go home.

hmm.... that didn't go all that well

so it's 2:56 am and I just remembered the plan of writing in this everyday... so I guess that didn't even work two days... /sigh... ya... :P

NaNoWriMo... all done... whats next?

So the month of NaNoWriMo is over. I finished and one. Along with finishing a calculus project and an Exam and all the other stuff that happened last month. I did it. Is that neat? Well I think so at least.
So I have this crazy word file with all sorts of information what do I do now? The plan is to not look at it. Not think about it. Then in January after Christmas is over, after I have finished Physics and two more exams (and probably after I have been on the cruse ship) then I will look at it again and maybe put the peaces and ideas that came out of me in November together.
The new thought I have now though is what do I axially do? For the last 30 days I have been madly writing each night trying to get as many words as I can written before midnight. The what new odd idea do I plane to use to fill this time with? National Blog Posting Month...  Ya I know I tried this before. But I already have the habit of writing. This time I am just going to put that into writing here... can I do it with Christmas and being at Loyalist again in 12 days? When there will be days like today which I spend doing Physics and listening to the new Glee CD? I don't promise every day will be interesting but I will just write.
And look it's 10 min till the 2ed and I have the first post done.
Now back to finishing this physics report (go electromagnetic's... /sigh)

The prettiest place in Canada?

We just came back from Victoria... (well not just... I had to finish my NaNo before I could write this... by the way I won!! Ok back to your regulatory scheduled vacation update...) and I really like that city. I wish Stefan's project had been in Victoria instead of Nanaimo because its such a nice place. The downtown is just beautiful. Theres this amassing soda shoppe that I just LOVE. We tried a Chocolate float last time we were there and then this time we had a raspberry and peach float that was SOOOOO good, and an Epic ice cream Sunday which was also really good. We had a really nice breakfast... and it's kinda neat Food Network was filming for a show call You should eat here while we were there this morning... I finally got eggs Benedict after craving it for like a month...(there are NO breakfast places in Nanaimo by the way...) and they were REALLY good. Stefan learnt that if a hippie barista at some coffee shop asks you if you want White Coffee you should say no. It tasted like dirty watter... There also are some really neat little court yard's with shops and stuff but the shops were a little uninteresting... but all in all wondering around Victoria makes for a lot of fun. Oh ya the Parliament Buildings look so nice dressed up for christmas.
We visited a Bug Zoo, I had been told about it by someone at the LARP and it was really neat. I had a millipede on my face... There was a guide who was telling you about all the bugs and she just continually went around the room talking about all the bugs and would take them out of there display cases and let us hold them. There was a really pretty spider that I liked and the millipede was neat. The centipede is creepy... they look so mean...
Today we went to Craigdarroch castle, it was really pretty. I like castles. They are so epic! They have a lot of story... its odd because in general I am not much of a history fan but for some reason I like hearing the history about buildings (imagine if we could find out all of Loyalist's history... that place is over 100 years old and probably has some story's to tell... it doesn't look like a castle but it's still really old...). I like Buildings...
Anyways it's sleepy time now, I am going to yoga in the morning (the first time back in a month... there were tooth doctor appointments... and then a scheduled change and an exam... so ya but I will go tomorrow... ) and it looks like I sold my bike... which is pretty sweet.
So there we go, I'm heading back to Ontario in less than two weeks... NaNoWriMo is over... sold my bike... I guess all that is left right now is to keep up with the Physics-ing and pack the house. All adventures have to come to an end at some point... otherwise you can't really call them an adventure... all in all I am happy with this adventure and ready to go home.

A birthday, A painting, an Exam and 36 333 words

So been busy lately... not in the sense that I have been doing a lot... more just non stop math and other school things.
We went to Vancouver again last Monday for Stefan's birthday. It was a really good day. We mostly just went to the aquarium hung out... then missed the ferry... so I kinda read the schedule wrong... and it's the kind of thing where that's it... theres an end to when it runs and you have no choices left...

I painted him a picture of Noel I like it a lot.

It's our Kitty : D

Other than that I re-did the Functions Exam this morning...  went SOOOO much better... I am still getting worried about my marks. It look's like about 85 is what I need for the engineering programs... but really it's not the end of the world. I can just do things again. The only real way to get better at math is to do more of it. And I am cool with doing more of it... I just need to go to school next year.

Calculus is finished too, I have to do an exam for it but I think that will happen after christmas. So now it's non stop Physics till christmas. I have to get the chemistry stuff sent to me so I can do that as soon as physics is done... THEN I can apply for University... Since all the credits just need to be started. /sigh... lol I can't be feeling overwellmed yet... this isn't even the REAL work.

Lastly NaNo... I'm still going... I am a little behind on yesterday's word count... I think I need 2000 today to be at today's amount. It's all going really fine... There will be a bit of a scramble on Tuesday next week uploading it to the sight since me and Stefan are going on one last little trip. We don't see us coming to this part of Canada again anytime soon and I REALLY liked Victoria... so we are heading back there for a little two day trip. It's suck a pretty little town. I guess that means I should finish my novel by saterday doesn't it...13667 in 5 days...  thats 2734 each day + a physics project I want in the mail by the 2ed... :D

So just don't complain I never write to you thats all... :D
(P.S we are planing our Florida vacation... :D We get off a cruse ship on my BIRTHDAY :D sadly we arn't on the ship but its still fun will tell you more ASAP Promise!!)
So...well...ya...

10 036 words and one less tooth.

So after not quite a week of NaNo I hit the 10 000 mark... :D yay! This is even with the major interruption that was a wisdom tooth extraction. I don't do dentists well, so this went amazing... it's kinda hard to explain but I felt like I walked away... separated myself from the things I didn't want to have anything to do with and just let it happen. There was a small freak out to start with but all it all it wasn't as bad as I have been before.
Saturday I felt like crap... Friday after the surgery was ok, I guess drugs will do that right... but I havn't really been up to anything today. I managed to get 500 and some words done just now... will try for another 334... I say two half day word counts are aloud when you go have surgery... :D all in all I am still up to date... I just have a math Unit I want to hand in by the end of Monday... this may not be as possible as staying on word count is... anyways I'm going to go finish those words off.
(oh ya I think the story stopped making sense three days ago... but then again that was when all the dentist stuff started so maybe I will be able to bring it back on track? Maybe?)

Ramblings....

So 29.5 hours till NaNo officially starts. I have a 60 point story outline. Which means I have a path from the start to the end. This should be fun. As far as school goes I am pretty much finished the Physics unit. That leaves 3 units in physics and 2 in Calculus. The dew date for Calc being Nov 22... so thats what's next thats for sure. I just wanted to get one of the physics units sent out because it has to travel over snail mail... :S
Theres one more book review to catch up on, and I am reading another book right now... the thing is theres only so much I can say about diskworld before I start repeating myself. Each story is different but it's just a story...
Been thinking about what to do with the NaNo novel. It's not going to be published... but I still don't want to just put it out here on the interweb for anyone to take. So if there really is anyone who reads this little place on the net and is interested send me a message however you are able to send me messages... :D If not... well when I win NaNo I'll will a get a physical copy of my book so you can read that!!

On the Edge of Darkness

So been thinking out my NaNo plot. Ideas on coming along it just takes a bit to get something that makes sense. This is what I currently have for a Synopsis. If anyone axualy looks at this tell me what you think.

On the Edge of Darkness
On the edge of darkness lies a pit so deep
On the edge of darkness lies a path so steep
On the edge of darkness between the black and white
On the edge of darkness one small step is needed to take flight.

Alexa’s life is on the edge of darkness. She has lost that which once mattered. Now goes through the motions of action on behalf of others. The one part of her that once was her almost doesn’t care anymore. Till a flick of her past appears back into her life, and she takes over for once.

Book Review, Sorcery by Terry Pratchett

Sorcery
By Terry Pratchett
Some people end up on all the adventures... it's to bad for Rincewinds that once again he's pulled into adventure. On diskworld there is an eighth color, great wizards are the eighth son of an eighth son... eight is a special number when you are dealing with magic. Wizards and women also don't mix. The why is nether really covered it;s just not done. So when a wild and diferent Wizard becomes astranged from the Unseen University builds a family has seven (wizard) sons then has an eighth things get complicated.
When Sorcery is let louse on the world dangerous things happen. Rincewind takes it upon himself to run away.  Trying to get as far away as possible only to find he cares and is the only one left to do anything about it. The world may survive (since this is book 5 out of 38 thats a safe guess) even if Rincewind gets stuck in the Dungeon Dimension at of it all.
Theres not much to really say about this book... the only question I had is where are the witches will all these wizard towers and magic being brought up from nowhere... I KNOW its not a story about them... but Diskworld is generally very good about covering all the options about people who might be able to have an effect on the situation and this was the first time I really questioned things...

Book Review, Wyrd Sisters by Terry Pratchett

Note about Diskworld, I apologizes for the review being too full of book related words and references... but diskworld is a lot harder to review in a practical sense than I expected... I am not too sure I will have much to say about them since I don't really care to just the story. The characters are very important so as long as I haven't talked about them before I will talk about that but I think that when I am covering story's about the same characters that I covered before the review might become a bit smaller.

Wyrd Sisters
by Terry Pratchett
Witchcraft is not what you think it is. You don't need candles and flashy symbols drawn in blood, or dancing naked under a full moon (sometime though Margrat would like things it if the other witches would be a little more Occult like... though I don't think even she would want to see Granny Weatherwax dancing naked...).  Witches are mostly solitary people, but even solitary people like to be a little social once in a while... other wise how would the others know you don't need them.
Most of the magic that is done by Witches on the disk is every day things, things that just take a little bit more knowledge and a lot of headology. They may be a bit closer to the vale between life and death. Which helps when theres a ghost around who needs a little justice and they do happen to fly around on broomstick (which aside from being a little cold is just a practical way to travel when your the only one in the ramtops who really does travel).
The witches are enjoyable characters because they are as I said, very down to earth and honest old ladies. Very Real, Wizards are the ones who mess around with Magic on the disk. Nanny and Granny are two cute and intelligent old ladies who care for the country folk that live in there aria. Sometimes this requires a little magical help... sometimes things work out anyways.

Book Review, The Prodigal Mage by Karen Miller

The Prodigal Mage
by Karen Miller
Hero's save the world. Its what they do. Then they get to live happly ever after right? Yet saveing the world changes it, and humans whether they are Olken or Doranen have trouble excepting that change. In the Kingmaker, Kingbreaker pair of books Asher saved the world from the evil of Morg and freed the Olken from the control of the Doranen gaining them the right to use the magic that they always had but were forbidden from using. The Prodigal Mage continues this story in the world that has been changed by his actions.
Asher's magic is different than a normal Olken's simpler earth based power, and because of the things he was forced to do with it he dislikes it greatly. His son is also in position of the same or maybe even greater amounts of power. Yet must grow up with a hero for a father, and hiding this power since it would frighten the world. But when the world starts to die and his father can't save it this time he steps up to the task.
Story's don't often cover the after part of things. How a hero may do his job but the great changes he tried to create... just make some things more difficult. Like what happens when a hero has children... And what happens if things go bad again and the hero's too old and worn out from saving the world 10 years earlier before anyone knew about it... This story though it takes the point of view of multiple different characters at different times is mostly about Rafel, Ashers son. The way he grew up and his taking on of the responsibility to help the world when his Father can't.
This book really does require you to have read the Kingmaker, Kingbreaker book's (in order The Innocent Mage is first, The Awakened Mage is second making this book three) first. I read them some time ago (1998 I think...) and it took me a few chapters to really remember the world and the way it worked. Especially because there are a lot of changes the world has faced since those books. This book also doesn't give you much of a reminder at all as to what happened (though in general I don't mind this it really didn't cover the past books at all). It jumps from character to character a little too much, and it took a bit to start realizing what family I was following.  But the two families you read about are important in there own way.
Rafel steps up to his place in the world. Becoming more comfortable with his magic, learning why it was so important to his father no to show his power to the world and that some things are worth taking a risk for. The story is continued in The Reluctant Mage.

Book Review, (Faust) Eric by Terry Pratchett

So as I mention earlier today there are a few books I need to finish reports on... and seeing how I currently planing to increase my goals of wighting to crazy I might as well try to keep up on the goals I already have. Over the past year I have now read 26 of the 38 diskworld books.... thats a lot of books since its not the only books I have read this year...

(Faust) Eric
by  Terry Pratchett
There is a world that is carried through space on the back of four great Elephants who stand on the back of a giant turtle who is swimming through space with an unknown destination. This world is shaped as a disk, a round circle peppered with mountains across its center (know as the hub), and great waterfalls that crash over the edge and shower the elephants below.
Rincewind is a Wizard, he even has a hat that says so. He also has a way of getting stuck in the middle of things he'd much rather have nothing to do with. Through miss-adventure he ended up stuck in the Dungeon Dimensions (see my review of Sorcery).
Eric is a demonologist, he may be only 13 and may be less demonoligist more lucky. After studying his grand father's books he opens a door to the Dungeon Dimensions and summons a Demon... well... Rincewind (though the Luggage is thought of by many as a Demon...).  Eric demands that his demon grant him three wishes and even though Rincewind tells him its not possible it seems to work. Well... as well as any wish granted by a demon would work that is....
The disworld books are written in a different formant, there aren't any chapters, which other than not giving me a place to stop reading when I need to sleep doesn't really change much. I also like how even though this is one story that is part of a 38 book serous (and even though it directly takes place after another book) it doesn't matter one bit when you read it in relation to the other books. This can be said of every one of the disk world books. Each story you read developed the world more and more in my head, but none of them go in to extensive details about things that happened before (boring you if you have read it). It really doesn't matter to your understanding of the current story.
Rincwind is very bothered by the laws of Nature that the world he lives on doesn't follow. He sometimes wishes that the world was a nice sphere shape with a center of liquid rock.... but the world just doesn't work like that.

NaNoWriMo... here I go again...

So years and years ago I found this thing called NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), I like to wright (though in general no one is aloud to see it because most is nonsense) I don't really finish much. I tried it but was in the middle of school and got distracted. I tried again in 2007 but even less came of that try. So here I go again. I may have a Math class that must be done by the end of November and a Physics class that must be done by the end of December and I need/want to find and go to a job (hey two interviews this week!!) . But meh. It's fun... and it looks like I might have found a way to axially meet some people who live in this little town that doesn't do much... :P Since NaNo people generally like to meet and cheer each other on. Which I would kinda like more than anything at this point.
So here I go. 50 000 words in 30 days (plus a math class and a physics class :P)... will I give up... well the amount of posts on this blog might hint towards my dedication towards writhing wavers... and the fact that I have read three books and haven't finished the book reports on them...
   :P So....Well....Ya...

Vancouver, Victoria and thanksgiving

Hey,
About two weeks ago we went back to Vancouver again. We had coupons for a fancy Hotel so we stayed at the Pan Pasfic, which is an almost normal hotel on top of a conference center with a veuw of the Harbor, so it wasn't amazingly fancy(which I still really want to see) but it was kinda neat. The pool was nice and you can see everything so thats cool. It was a bit wet and rainy but it about the point where you point out that its not wet and rainy because it normally is.
The Saturday that we got there (sept,18) we didn't do much. There was a dinner as part of the hotel deal which was really nice. We went and watched guys punch each other (I think it was a mixed martial arts of some kind) and watched a lot of Discovery channel.
Sunday we went to The Science Center which is kinda neat because there was a lot of hands on things... though really there was just a lot of Puzzles... so less science center and more Puzzle center but they are in the middle of fixing it and they had Body Works taking up a large portion of the place (which we didn't go to because we've seen before). We then found food at a neat sports bar and Ice cream at a real nice gelato place (I think BC believes that ice cream is always gelato because they always call it that even if it's not really gelato... though this place is. They usealy only call ice cream bar's like the kind you get at gas stations Ice cream....). We then went to the cheep hotel we had that was near the ferry to Victoria.
Took the first ferry to Victoria on Monday, it had a Farly good buffet and since your just sitting in it for the ferry trip its kinda neat. I like Victoria a lot... its really pretty. We went to the Museum which is a really cool one... kinda like the ROM, but really just its own thing.  Theres also a ice cream parlor... that has milkshakes and float's. Tastie!! We wondered around and I really want to come back.
Now this past weekend was thanksgiving. We went to Rob's famalys house. It was a nice day. Went on the boat again and talked. Ya food and friends! I made Apple Pecan Cheesecake. I cut the recipe in half because its huge and I kinda think that the cheesecake should have some cinnamon in it or something it tasted to separate to me.
Still no job... /sigh... But I finished the second unit of Calculus today and now just need to study so I can do well on the Functions exam!
Thats whats been up the last little bit! So...Well...Ya...

The seasons tree

The is an animation I made at the Art Institute that I am really proud of. It was for a Dynamics project and consists of a tree which has the seasons change around it. Though I still have all the files that it took to create it I lost the final composite a ages ago. The only copy was on my Facebook profile. Now because Facebook created a way to download you information I was able to get it back!!

Book Review, Arms-Commander by L.E. Modesitt, Jr.

So I rediscovered how much I love the library again last week. Ya I am that lame.... I haven't finished a book since Eat Pray Love in the summer... I'm still reading the Golden ratio book... its just heavy and full of math... so I went and put on hold a bunch more Diskworld books but I found the newest Saga of Recluce. Which is probably my favorite fantasy seres.

Arms-Commander
by L.E. Modesitt, Jr.
Being a woman in the 21st century and living in north america is prity good. There are options and chances open to us that haven't been always been there, and still aren't form many. If I was to some how be stuck in a world where the chances I have in my life suddenly disipeared I can only hope I would be able to handle myself as well as the ladies of Westwind.
The Angels of Westwind arrived there when there space ship failed and they had to land on the nearest planet. Those events are covered in the book The Chaos Balance, this story takes place 10 years after they landed. They have since built themselves a place to live in the snowy mountaintop know as the Roof of the World. Even though the land they live on is harsh and unwanted they are continually finding themselves attacked by men in a world who don't believe in equality and are very threatened by the Angels presence. We follow the tail of Saryn who is sent down to the lowland country of Lornth to help them prevent a civil war. The land has lords who are bothered by the fact that the country has a female Regent.
In the world of Candar there are two different forces of magic. Order and Chaos, they are both found in nature and work together to create a balance. There are magi use the forces to do different kinds of things. One of the things I enjoy so much about the Recluce books is this idea of magic. Each mage you read about is learning, teaching themselves how they personalty see this magic. The different forces are not good or evil, they just do different things, but are looked upon different by different country throughout Candars history.
One of the things I enjoy about the series is how each book doesn't always follow the same characters. You can pick them up and enjoy each one on its own without havening ready anything before it. Sometimes you will find characters and events mentioned that you have read about in other books but there is no perfect order you need to read them in. It lets you explore the creation of the world and its history in little chunks and makes the reader a better historian on the world than any of the characters ever could be.
Saryn's path in the story is not an easy one, she is working to improve the rights of women in a time where they are still though of as property. Though she does have a lot of women on her side. I know that what she does changed Candar in a way it was fighting against. I respect the women who had to do this in our world. All so that I can sit here all day working on math so that I can go to university and become an engineer. Something that wouldn't have been possible without them.

Meow?

Still here... still alive... Life is just normal again. I've just been going to Yoga, doing math (80% in final project... trying to sort out the exam now...) and trying to get a job. We are moving units today... there was some cat drama... its all good now, and we have a nicer apartment so it all worked out... going to Vancouver again on the weekend... which will be fun.
Don't really have much to say... so...well...ya...

Big treas, Airplane, and lots of watter.

So yesterday we were given a special tour of the most beautiful places on the island. By someone whose lived here long enough to find them. A friend of Stefan's from work took us out to see the island the way only someone who knows the place can. In his truck Stefan scrunched up in the tiny spot in the back we first visited the great big trees... the ones that are as old as Canada itself... they are defiantly impressive. My camera's battery is dead but I tried to get photos with my cell.. the problem is I can never figure out how to get them off it and I've had the thing for almost two years.
We found Goats who like to hang out on the roof of a little shop... the kind of shop Auntie Corrine would like... it has all sorts of funky little country things... and a green roof that goats hang out on... Theres also an Ice cream shop that we visited on the way home which had licorice Ice cream... not just Tiger Tale... which they do also have here it just dosn't have much of the licorice part... this was just the licorice part and it made me happy.
We went to Rob's parents house, which is this amazing place on a lake. Rob has a boat and he took us to see an old Bomber Airplane, the kind that is now used to drop watter onto fires. It is HUGE... it was neat. Sadly the museum for it closed last week and we weren't able to go inside one but it was still really neat. We then boated around and saw the amazing views from the watter. Before heading to town for lunch.
Then we drove around the mountains looking at different lakes and all sorts of pretty places people other than locals and Loggers (mostly loggers) know about. It was such an amazing day. We borrowed Rob's camera and ended up being able to get photos so there some nice things to see, and if you like Airplanes this ones big.
Oh ya and we did, after looking all day find a bear... he was kinda far away but we did find one.

normality returns... I feel meh about it...

Life is very normal at the moment. Just doing school work, and looking for a job. I am not sure if I will be able to volunteer at the Yoga place, it looks like they might have filled up all the openings while they asked me to try things out... :( I also don't really know how long were staying...
Were going to Vancouver again on Wednesday. : ) Just me and Stefan this time. Should be fun. Still been leaving the house at least once a day... which is deferentially better than just siting at home all the time.

British Columbia

Photo's from BC so far.

Borrowed crabs, Sunburns and video games on an Island...

We went to the harbor and borrowed crabs this morning. None of the ones who wanted to eat our chicken were big enough to keep so we didn't catch any just borrowed them. I sat on the peer and did math... There were also two Seals who were hanging out by the fisher people. They wanted fast food. I think there was a lady feeding them a one point. Ya for wild seals. That makes the wild animal count to 6 dear and two seals.
After Bowman went to work Stefan and me took a boat to a restaurant on an island. Where we spent the day. Walking and killing monsters (on the game boy... there wasn't anything I could kill with poisons...).  I forgot my hat and sunscreen... so now I am sad and burnt. I also missed Yoga today because it was all booked up when we got home! But my Library card arrived and its much cheaper to get things printed there so yay resumes! I can had more out tomorrow.
and now back to gameboy... So...well...ya...

Vancouver weekend

this is kinda late... but I haven't been interneting as much lately so meh...
Saturday we went to Vancouver, we missed the faerie... but only just.... When we did get to Vancouver Stefan and I went to the Aquarium. The kinda have a sine problem... there will be one... then you walk for a bit pass like  3 or four different paths before finding a new sine telling you to turn around back from where you came... don't even ask Stefan about it... it really frustrated him. We had even worse problems with that on Sunday... we did find the place though and saw Fishies... :D yay fish.
We had dinner at a nice burger place and found the tail end of a street party. Vancouver and Nanaimo shuts down really early. The mall here closes on weekdays at 5:30!! Like what? How do you make any money closing that early? We spend less than 30 min at the casino itself Stefan lost some money... then played gameboy (dragon quest IX)
Sunday we were going to go to the PNE but I didn't think there was enough time so we just went to the place for circ de sole. We spend an hour and a half wondering trying to find food... we found the Olympics village (the place where the athlete lived when the Olympics were happening), which is kinda like really fancy housing, and kind like fancy empty space that has been forgotten about... there was no food anywhere... we also got stuck with watter between us and what looked like a place to find food the only way across was a big highway bridge... then luck being with us we found an Aquabus! A little boat that takes you across the watter. It was cute. We did manage to find food at the bottom of a hotel and really quickly eat it before going to our show. It was fun. Then we went home, more boats and more gameboy!!
Vancouver has also taken the green fad to the next level. It annoys me enough already but in Vancouver they have deiced to blame everything on YOU! YOU waste to much energy. YOU use too much gas. YOU produce too much carbon dioxide. YOU don't recycle enough (even though we as a Provence makes it way hard for you to recycle...) Its kinda annoying... It got to the point where I wanted to tell everyone who mentioned how bad I am to the world everything I try to do... and it makes what I understand of the recycling program even more crazy... you pay a deposit on can's/glass/maybe other stuff and a Recycling tax. Then get the despot back if you bring the cans back... but with 20 cans + some glass and plastic I got like 1.30.... I don't know how many people will recycle in order to get one droller and thirty cents...  I don't even think the moneys worth it I just cant stand to throw it out!
   Anyways that was Vancouver... So...well...ya...

Zoom...

I think I am over the jet lag. I slept in till 10 ish today, I was tired all over this morning. I think kitty's feeling better too.
I biked down to Yoga, and had my first class there today. Then biked back to the mall and had dinner with Stefan. It's about a half hour trip. No longer than it used to take me to get to Kensington market. Which is defiantly cool, its also basically just one road all the way there. This biking plan is going to make me really fit thats for sure. Since your going up a hill or down one. Theres no flat on this island. At the moment I kinda have to walk the bike 1/2 way up some hills but I figure it wont be like that forever.
Going to Vancouver tomorrow. Be back Sunday night sometime. I need for the library card to get here so I can print a better copy of my resumes and start putting those ones out.
I fell asleep when I got home today so I am going to make someing to eat.
so... well...ya...

Geting things done... :D

So yesterday was fairly productive, I got a library card, explored the immediate aria, and handed out 15 resumes personalty and put out about 10 online. So I am happy with that. I just am very impatiently waiting for my cell phone to ring.
Today I took the bus to the biggest mall in the aria, it was about 20 min. So not too bad. Theres one more mall to explore, and I didn't bring resumes with me today so I'll have to go back to the main one anyways. More importantly I got a bike!! It's so nice when plans work. Step one get a bike, step to find a Yoga class, step 3 job.
As far as finding a Yoga class, I kinda found a interesting place. Theres a yoga studio that offerer's free classes in exchange for volunteering to clean 4 hours a week. I have been e-mailing them and I am going to go check out the place tomorrow I'm excited. I really like the idea. Stefan said that apparently its a common practice and I think thats cool.
I'm getting distracted now by so you think you can dance.... so...well...ya...

And so it begins…

                                                    3:00 (Toronto time)
I’m on a airplane. And so is kitty… :D Noel’s doing ok, being very quiet. She didn’t like going through security very much.  Too many people, to many noises. It was probably the first time ever that she wanted to go back in her travel case.
I like flying sooooo much!! I don’t think the girl beside me does… she’s had her head in her boyfriends lap since we took off and doesn’t look very comfortable.  I saw windmills!! They were spinning… and lake Huron. We are flying over lake Michigan right now. Our world is very tiled… it’s funny how fake it looks… like a really bad  tiling job on a background for some reason.  I am currently flying at an altitude of 9906 m and a speed of 674 km/hour. There is 2770 KM to go to get to vancover. . It’s a little bumpy because of the weather but not too bad.  I don’t really want to sleep but I didn’t sleep yesterday and the plane is defiantly making me feel sleepy.
                                                                                                                        4:33 (Toronto)
The map says I am 18 m west from Devils lake. I was looking at it as we passed and it was odd. I saw a lot of land like sections with water in the center. There’s a lot of little bodies of water down there. I guess where k-town is 1000 islands this is 1000 lakes… J
There was the strangest looking fields back a little when I just woke up. They were cut in a very complete circle’s. You could see the square of land but in the square there was a circle… I don’t know why that would be a go way to cut any crop… I really think that whoever did the texture map down there is kina crazy… there’s lots of detail… but searesly… crop circles? What are you bored or something? Your texture mapping Manitoba… It doesn’t need to be that crazy… :D  Speed is 753 km/h and altitude is 10363 m… I wonder how close that makes me to space? I’ll google it later… it looks a little more real down there now… I still think I could have made it look better. More real.

5:19 (Toronto)
I found Saskatchewan. It’s really un interesting… like REALLY, really uninteresting… but I did find it. lol
             3:05(Vancouver)
I see mountains. Its Alberta underneath me right now. The roads are very different that Ontario. In Ontario it was very square. Everything thing is a grid. But what I can see of roads (now its mostly mountains… but before the mountains) it’s a lot more smoove curves. Drifting around the world. In Ontario we have taken over. We have turned the world under our control. Into strict a strict grid. But here the world won’t let humans take over. Its all rocky and mountainous that we can only go where the world lets us. From what I can see the most condensed places of human ness down there are where the earth flattens out near the water. It’s so close on the map!!  Altitude is 10972 m and speed is 777 km/h.  There’s about ½ an hour till we get there, I think we are in BC now… there’s still mostly mountains down there.
On a different random thought… I am sitting at the back of the airplane right near where the washrooms are. Even from the MOMENT I got on the plane there was a line for them. Only really breaking the first hour when we had turbulence. Why don’t people pee before they get on an airplane!!! It makes sense people!! Didn’t your mother ever tell you to pee before you leave on a long trip?  An well… threes 30 minutes till we land now… why not just wait till we get there?

Book Review, Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

I had decided to do a book review of all the books I read this summer...I have been reading more complicated books lately and I think it might help me explore what I understand about them more. I meant to do this earlier but since I am  going to see the movie in a few hours I will do it now.

Eat, Pray, Love
By: Elizabeth Gilbert

It’s very easy to get overwhelmed by our day to day lives that we forget about ourselves. Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of  Eat, Pray, love was as susceptible to this in her life as any of us. She was overwhelmed by what tradition told her that her she should want in her life. A marriage that had fallen apart and being a successful writer with a very busy lifestyle..  She decided to take a year away from all this, in a way that is not always possible for people. She was able to spend a year traveling to Italy, India and Indonesia. Taking this time to rediscover who she was and what she wanted with her life.
The book is divided in to three parts, one for each of her four month stay in a country. It has also been divided into 108 tales which is symbolic in its connection to a japa mala ,which is a  spiritual string of beads used all over India to aid in prayerful meditation.  The Structure of the book works very well and I like how the author let the spiritual influences of her journey be reflected in every aspect of the story even just the way it was presented.
In Italy Elizabeth went to just enjoy herself. When she was going through her divorce she decided to learn Italian for no reason other than she wanted to. It had always been something she wanted to do and she really needed something in her life that was hers and hers alone.  Going to Italy was a dream come true for her, a chance to live and breathe the language that she loved and to explore her freedom and the little things. She calles her trip to Italy and exploration in Passion, it was a place to enjoy life, enjoy the beauty of the world and to enjoy the food.
Where Italy was her exploration in passion, India was for devotion. She had found direction through a Guru who she had originally discovered when she was dating a guy during her divorce.  This boyfriend had been both wonderful and troublesome at the same time.  Yet he had led her to her Guru. When she went to India her original plan was to spend one month at her Guru’s Ashram and then explore the country. Looking for herself and strengthening her connection to god.  She ended up feeling that there was more to learn at the Ashram then she expected and spent all her time there instead. Leaving with a freeing feeling. I enjoyed the part of her experiences in the Ashram the most.  It is very interesting place. A place to just completely loose yourself in devotion to your faith. Then come out the other side knowing more about yourself.
In Indonesia, Bali she looked for Balance. A way to take what she learnt about Passion in Italy and Devotion in India and combine them into a life. A life she could take back home to the US with her and keep once she got back to the real world. It’s all good to find yourself but you don’t want to lose it. She worked with a medicine man, learning his ways. Made friends with a Healer lady who was also divorced, a rarity in Bali. Her new friends brought her back into the real world. The world of having fun and going out dancing. She met a new man in places she didn’t expect who pushed her to let herself love again.
All in all the book was very inspiriting. It shows us, even me who isn’t as old and worn out as the author felt,  the importance of knowing who we are. Of keeping ourselves as a priority in our own lives and not living for the people around us.  It makes me want to find a way now, while I am 24, to understand myself and to nether loose myself in the everyday world.  I am very happy for the Author that she was brave enough to take the chance and go on this adventure, all so that she could share it with the world and give us all hope that it is possible for us to understand ourselves too.

(P.S A comment about the movie:  I liked it a lot, I think it’s not really a “movie theatre” movie. Would be much better at home in comfy clothes with a glass of wine.  It also felt very long to me. But is very true to the book.)

Green Fad.... thoughts

I hate the green fad. Yet I really do honestly believe in what I do to try to make a difference. I try hard to recycle everything I can, if there were more products I could buy which didn’t have packaging I would ( I really dislike packaging… the worst is when things are wrapped twice… like they have a plastic wrapper inside a box or something!! Can’t you just use one or the other!!! /sigh)  I was using cloth bags before the by-law told us too… I really like having the green bin.
The thing with the green fad that bugs me is that it’s started to feel so fake. The $5.00 bags that tell the world “I’m green”… the plastic mugs and bottles that starbucks sells and then everyone forgets at home…  I think a part of us all agrees with the concept of them… but having them with us when we need  them nether quite works.
I have recently discovered LUSH and instantly fell in love both with the quality of the products and the attitude of the company . I have also tried a few of those fancy fast food places (Letrei, Fresi, Aroma) and the food there is SOOOO much nicer. It doesn’t make you feel like crap for eating fast food. The negative being that you really do pay for the quality you are receiving.
To be honest I am totally cool with paying for quality. It just sucks that it’s hard to be healthy when you have no money… people complain how North America has become so overweight… but when a proper meal costs twice as much as food that fills you up but isn’t very good for you… can you blame us? I honestly believe there isn’t a person alive who doesn’t believe a fast food burger is shit for you. Yet we all eat it. They smell good, taste good when you’re eating them (though a real burger will always taste SO much better you never remember that at the time… ) and they are real easy…  There aren’t a lot of people who will put as much effort into getting good (reasonable priced) fresh food. When I was in Toronto groceries took me 2- 3 hours most of that was traveling all around town.  It always seemed like I was the odd one bring food from home to work for lunch…
I guess this whole thing is a rather large ramble… but that’s just what I have been thinking about today. The whole thing started when I had a mint lemonade at Aroma, it looks like the crazy macha stuff… that awful,  “I am drinking this because its good for me” green… but it tasted so REAL. Like the mint I would eat out of Mom’s garden (Cody, our dog used to love it too). Not like the harsh mint that you think of when you order a drink that is mint. I also ate dinner from Freshi today (shish I can spend a little on food out when I don’t have to spend it on groceries :D ) it has the same kind of feel. This is real. This food won’t make my stomach feel heavy and like shit. It’s kina my goal to not eat things that make me feel like shit… I think we have put up with that for too long and should except food that costs a little more in order to get it.
(and ya... still not doing so good on the wright every day plan... meh!!)
So...Well...Ya...

last Raven event for a bit...

NPCing is defiantly work! It was a fairly light weekend event but I'm still really tired. It was kinda a odd weekend since no one showed up to play on Friday night, it was almost like a strange day event... since most of the players came yesterday and didn't even stay over night on sight or anything. But lots of stuff happened, monsters died and the world did not explode... its much different NPCing the playing as a PC. You are kinda floating around playing all the parts and seeing some of what happens but not really catching everything... only half seeing what happens. I guess its like that when your in a play too... you only really see whats on screen when you are on screen.
I had a random idea of an interesting hide in go seek game today. We were NPCing Elemental creatures, and the way they work is that they hate ofter creatures of the element that is opposing to them, so fire creatures hate Ice creatures, and Ice hate fire (or Stone vs Lighting). some crazy thing was happening and we were elementals who were fighting each other. It made me think that it would be fun to play a game where everyone took an element then went hiding you each had abilities that were different but equal in power and the goal was to hid from your enemy wile trying to find and kill them before they killed you... I think it could be kinda neat.
I also find it fun when I am an NPC and I am helping the players do something for some reason. NPC monsters have neat powers and its kinda fun to be on the PC's side for a bit instead of against them.
Thats it for my last Raven event for a bit, I hope its not my last event of the year... but there is a chance that it will be... I am going to try to LARP in BC but I am a little worried because the LARP I found is a bit more complicated and kinda seems less newbie friendly... but I am all for trying :D I am sad I will miss Raven though... I am really enjoying the story of it all.
I am sleepy now so its bed for me. Last night as I was going to sleep all I could feel was packets being thrown at me... oh so manny packets...

So...Well...Ya...

Raven

So I did manage to finish the arm bands... haven't really done anything as far as the T-shirt... oh well I will bring it and show it too him my pattern. It's odd because I feel about the least excited for this weekend than I have ever felt for Raven. I feel so meh lately... its also odd because I can't find the NPCing  cloths I had last event and my pajamas and Mary Ann's costume... I am hoping the costume shows up in the costume box... and maybe the other stuffs at auntie Corrine's?  Thats my only real guess right now...  Ok I am going to finish off what I need to go before heading out.
I will write something tomorrow it just wont be posted till I get back. It's the writing part that matters, creating the habit and all that.
So...Well...Ya...

busy day

It seems like every Raven weekend I give myself 1000 things to do. I made a cake today. Not even a Kraft one at that :D it had a lot of different dishes... and i did some sewing too. Made more Kings hard armbands because the other ones I made were kinda small... still need to finish them tomorrow though. Also designed a LARP T-shirt today... but don't think it will be ready to give to the guy this weekend...
As much as I like driving I really like being driven more... I am totally for those robot cars that drive for you... all the benefits of having a car, the freedom to go where you want and all that jass... but the ability to play gameboy in the car at the same time...
Anyways its sleepy sleep time for me.

So...Well...Ya...

so...ya... bad start

So I guess I kinda skipped yesterday... bit of a bad start... but that just shows you why I want to start building the habit now before life gets busy and interesting...
I was playing with the dogs today. It's soooo hot and they really just can't take it that well... so we were playing with the watter from the hose... They are big dogs a border collie and 1/2 Border Collie, 1/2 Shellie so I really can see why people are scared of them sometimes... they really were chomping at the watter... but it was kinda funny because they were trying to catch it so much I think they forgot to breath... :P silly dogs. and they will just play and play and play... even when they are crazy tired out they will still keep playing if you will play with them.
There is a kitten here right now too. If anyone wants a kitten let me know because hes really cute. We decided to call him Black Jack, like the blackcurent candy from england. Mom started to call him Jelly bean because he's just non stop wiggly but we decided we like Black Jack more. Hes started to enjoy chewing everything... but nothing for an extended amount of time... he looses interest in one thing and finds something new really fast. Though he doesn't go zoom the way Noel does.
She's still my baby, we were cuddling today. I was trying to study and she decided that I needed to cuddle more... then I fell asleep :S  it was so hot its hard to focus... bleh... I had intended to sew today too, and make a cake for Raven on sunday... its just WAY to hot to bake... almost to hot to do anything right now... and yet the old people still dislike the "draft's"... / sigh

so...well...ya...

21 days.....

They say a habit takes 21 days. So let this be day one.  In 14 days I go to BC. Who knows what I will find there but it will be interesting. I want to get into the habit of sharing what I find there. So if I start writing every day, even just a little, now my hope is that it will be easer to continue to write when I get there.
Right now my days are a little unexciting. It feels like I am in the middle of a loading page, the percentage bar slowly filling up... I keep looking over at it and see its hardly moved since I last looked.
I just finished a good book... I is called " Eat, Pray, Love" and has a movie coming out from in a week Friday.  Maybe I will do a proper book report tomorrow... right now I am not feeling it.

So...Well...Ya...
