Random thoughts about having a tv to distract me...

It's crazy how much of a distraction havening a TV is... you don't even realize it. At home I don't have tv and it never matters. I never care, I  never even notice. But then I come here... and I spend the entire time when I am not cooking or required to do something specific with the tv on.
I don't know why but it just pulls you in... I am not even watching anything specifically good... silly things like Opra and Dr. Phill.... old cartoons... Fraggle Rock and Inspector Gadget... Then theres food network which I honestly do like... but its still nothing tv... such a completely unproductive way to spend time.... why do we do it? Why does siting in front of a TV feel productive and entering at all?
And a TV chanel playing nothing but old Cartoons is awesome take cheep, old, bad cartoons and market them to the "do you remember x awesome show..." crowd like me... the part I find funny is seeling the old cartoons mixed with commercial for new torys... it feels so out of place... not sure if they really think kids are going to watch it... they really aren't as good as we remember...
